Yola Electricity Company To Refund Overbilled Customers

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), has said it will refund customers who were overbilled in 2023.

The information was contained in press statement issued by the YEDC management, telling customers that: “It is aware of the position of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in its 2023 Annual Report which indicates that distribution companies (Discos) across the country, including YEDC, had overbilled their customers in 2023 due to the implementation of the Service Reflective Tariff (SRT).”

According to YEDC, it is working with the “regulator” to ensure that every customer that falls within this category is given a commensurate refund as it’s their right.

It however noted that the modalities of the refund are yet to be finalised and communicated to the public.

The company therefore urged its customers to be vigilant and not to give funds to anyone in exchange for any form of refund or other associated services.

It noted that such claims are fraudulent and should be reported to the nearest YEDC office or the customer care line on 09038853342.

“YEDC assures its customers that every affected customer will be contacted by YEDC personnel and given instructions on the next line of action.

“Customers are also advised to always pass their enquiries to dedicated and authentic YEDC channels.

“YEDC appreciates the patience and understanding of its customers and remains committed to providing quality and reliable electricity service in line with the SRT and the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) approved by NERC,” it said.
