Lagos APC Primary: Reports Of Sanwo-Olu Leading Ambode ‘Untrue’ – NWC Panel

Lagosians and Nigerians at large have been urged by the National Working Committee’s panel of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disregard election results on social media suggesting that Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu was leading Governor Akinwumi Ambode in the party’s governorship primary in the state.

Chairman of the panel, Mr. Clement Ebri, said there was no way the results being circulated on social media could be true when the voting exercise had not yet commenced.

Ebri, therefore, urged the public to ignore the results, noting that the panel had been holding a crucial meeting with key stakeholders after which the exercise would begin.

“The primary election hasn’t started. We are in a meeting with the party chairman in Lagos and the agents of the two contenders in the primary election.

“There are grey areas to be ironed out. We want to organise a free, fair and transparent primary election and that is why this meeting is very crucial.

“It is after we have settled the grey areas and address all the stakeholders’ concerns that we will send people out from here to conduct the primary,” said the NWC’s panel chairman.

The Lagos primary election of the APC is meant to provide a governorship flag bearer between Governor Ambode and Sanwo-Olu ahead of the 2019 governorship election in the state.
