Lagos Bus Services Launches Investigation After Fire Guts BRT Bus

Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has launched an investigation following a fire incident that gutted one of its BRT buses on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. The affected vehicle, identified by code number 240057, was reportedly en route to Oshodi from Obalende when it suddenly caught fire near the Adekunle axis of the bridge.

Despite the swift intervention of good Samaritans and emergency responders, the bus was completely consumed by the blaze. However, no casualties or injuries were recorded.

Confirming the incident in a statement, LBSL said passenger safety remains its top priority and assured the public that a comprehensive investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the fire.

“The safety of our passengers is our utmost priority, and we take this incident very seriously. A comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, and we will take all necessary steps to prevent future occurrences,” the company said.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LBSL, Mr Idowu Oguntona, expressed appreciation to individuals who assisted during the incident, including the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to the brave individuals, including the Honorable Commissioner for Transportation Lagos State, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who assisted during the incident,” he said.

“We will provide updates on the investigation’s findings and any subsequent actions.”

LBSL reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation services to residents of Lagos.\
