Lagos By-Elections: PDP Appoints Rep, Four Others As Screening Committee Members

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has nominated Tajudeen Ayo Yusuff to chair the screening committee for the Lagos State Senatorial and State Assembly by- elections.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobundu.

Akobunde listed other members of the committee to include Otunba Daisi Akintan, Helen Adebakin, Adekunle Akindele and Jacob Otokpa.

He said the committee was mandated to screen all aspirants for the upcoming Lagos-East Senatorial District and Kosofe II State Constituency bye-elections in Lagos state.

According to him, the inauguration of the committee is scheduled to hold on August 25 at the PDP secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos by 10:00AM.

THE WHISTLER recalls that the bye-elections became necessary following the demise of the senator representing Lagos-East at the Senate, Adebayo Osinowo, and the member representing Kosofe State House of Assembly, Tunde Buraimoh, respectively.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed October 31 as date for the conduct of the elections.
