Lagos Pipeline Explosion: Situation Under Control – NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC), has reacted to the Thursday pipeline explosion in the Ijegun area of Lagos state.

According to reports, the fire was ignited in Ijegun after suspected vandals were scooping fuel from the pipeline belonging to the corporation.

Confirming the incidence, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said two people were killed and 30 vehicles set ablaze.

Reacting to the explosion in a statement by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs of NNPC, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, said the situation is under control. 

 “We urge everybody within the community to remain calm as the situation is under control. Our team of engineers has resumed at the site to bring the situation under control,” the statement read.
