Lai Mohammed To Senate: Ignore Those Calling Me ‘Liar’

The just concluded ministerial screening seem to have left Senators in a lighter mood as a remark made a nominee and immediate past minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed threw the lawmakers into a fit of laughter.

Mr. Mohammed who was the last of the 43 nominees to be screened by the senate, while giving a brief about himself made a rather funny clarification in the public space.

He had said: “My name as it appears in my CV is correct — Lai Mohammed. Please don’t believe what they call me on social media. They call me all sorts of names.

“I used to ignore it until my seven year old grandson asked me “Why do they call you Liar Mohammed?” I told him, “Don’t mind them. They are the bad guys,” he added.

Recall that the former Minister had been called out on social media for lying to cover-up the current All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government.

He had also on several occasions denied being a liar.

Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe of Kwara State while extolling the virtues of the nominee noted that: “The story of Nigerian democracy will not be complete without mentioning Lai Mohammed for ousting the dynasty in Kwara State.”

After another appeal from Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the senate then asked him to take a bow.

Lai Mohammed who was born in 1952 is a native of Oro in Kwara State. He earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Obafemi Awolowo University in the year 1975.

He proceeded to obtain a Law degree from the University of Lagos, and then Nigerian Law School in 1986.

He co-founded the legal firm of Edu & Mohammed as a Senior Partner in 1989.
