Lasser Fever Kills Two In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), said two of the three confirmed cases of Lassa fever died within three months in the territory.

Director of Public Health and Human Services Secretariat in FCT, Humphrey Okoroukwu, revealed this on Wednesday to newsmen in Abuja.

Okoroukwu said 38 suspected cases were reported and investigated, but after investigation, only three cases were confirmed, with two death recorded

“The only case of Lassa fever reported in Abuja Municipal Area Council in March eventually died’’.

The director added that the remaining victim in the territory, who has been under surveillance was discharged having exited the incubation period.

He urged residents to develop proper personnel and environmental hygiene to avoid rats and also advised them to get adequate medical attention, especially for fever as it is the main symptom of the disease.
