Late Pa Akindayomi Remains My Spiritual Father – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has said that the late Josiah Akindayomi, who passed the baton of leadership to him, remains his spiritual father.

The disclosure was made via an official tweet on Monday, debunking the news trending on social media.

Clarifying some online reports which stated that the President of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association Incorporated, Uma Ukpai is his spiritual father, Adeboye stressed that the report was not true.

In the Pentecostal circle, ‘spiritual father’ often connotes mentor or role model.

As THE WHISTLER learnt from the church’s website (http://rccg.org/who-we-are/history/), Enoch who was then a lecturer of Mathematics at the University of Lagos was one of the interpreters translating Pa Akindayomi’s sermons from Yoruba to English, before his ordination as a pastor of the church in 1975.

The statement read in part: “This is to bring to the attention of the general public that the news circulating around the internet and social media space concerning me saying Reverend Dr Uma Ukpai is my spiritual father is very WRONG.

According to him, “Reverend Dr Uma Ukpai is one of the highly respected Generals in faith in Nigeria and he is someone I hold in high esteem.”

“That being said, my Spiritual Father remains Late Reverend (Pa) Josiah Akindayomi, the Founder and General Superintendent of RCCG,” he said.
