Lexus, Land Cruiser Owners ‘At Risk Of Injury’ As Toyota Issues Urgent Safety Recall Notice

Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota, has notified owners of some models of the Lexus LX570 and Toyota Land Cruiser of an “urgent safety recall” to enable its dealers fix a factory error that may put them at risk of injury.

Owners of some models of the luxury vehicles recently started seeing the warning notice on their dashboards, urging them to take action to avoid “increased risk of injury” in the event of an accident.

The notice reads: “Warning: Urgent Safety Recall: A Sensor in your seatbelt could malfunction and cause the front passenger airbag, knee airbag and passenger seat-mounted airbag to become deactivated, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.”

The car manufacturer, in a separate notice, noted that some Lexus LX570 models were, “equipped with a seat belt tension sensor that could malfunction over time, causing the airbag warning light and passenger airbag OFF indicator to illuminate.”

There are further indications that the recall affects certain 2008-2019 Lexus LX570 and Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles.

Owners of the luxury car brands are advised to contact authorized Toyota dealers for free modification or replacement of the front passenger seat belt assembly with an improved version.
