The duo are now playing for Paris Saint-Germain. Messi left La-Liga as a result of wage cap, while Ramos left due to contract fall out with the club’s hierarchy.

But the 2021 edition of the El-Classico also featured new debutants like Kun Aguero, former Manchester City forward and David Alaba from Bayern Munich.

Barca who were seventh on the table and have had a difficult start this season saw their problems compounded by Alaba who scored the opener in the 32nd minute of the first half.

Aguero was introduced into the game in the 72 minute, replacing Ansu Fati, the club’s new number 10.
