Maitama Sule Who Said God Gave Leadership Qualities To The North To Rule Dies In A Cairo Hospital

Renowned orator and diplomat, Alhaji Maitama Sule, who once said God has given the north leadership qualities has died in a Cairo Hospital on Monday morning.

“Everyone has a gift from God. The Northerners are endowed by God with leadership qualities.

The Yoruba man knows how to earn a living and has diplomatic qualities.

The Igbo man is gifted in trade, commerce, and technological innovation. God so created us equally with purpose and different gifts,” he was quoted to have said.

The death of the pioneer chairman of Nigeria’s Federal Commissioner of Public Complaints, and one-time presidential aspirant of the National Party of Nigeria but lost to Shehu Shagari, was announced by one of his sons, Aliyu.

He appointed Nigeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations in September, 1979, where he was chairman of the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid.

According to the family, the deceased will be buried in Kano on Tuesday.

“This is to announce that the corpse of the late Maitama Sule, Danmasanin Kano is expected to arrive Nigeria tomorrow Tuesday, July 4,” the family said in a statement.

“The aircraft conveying it is expected to land at the Aminu Kano International Airport at 2pm.

“Funeral to be conducted at the Kano Central Jumaat mosque, Emir’s palace at 4:30pm.”
