Malabu Oil Scam: Court Orders Arrest Of Ex-Petroleum Minister, Dan Etete

While former Justice Minister, Mohammed Adoke may have heaved a sigh of relief after he was granted bail by the Federal Capital Territory High Court, the same court has ordered the arrest of another ex-Minister Dan Etete over his involvement in the Malabu oil scam

The High Court had earlier on Thursday granted Adoke N50 million bail and one surety in like sum. He is standing trial over alleged fraud in the 1.2 billion dollars oil deal.

According to the Prosecutor, Bala Sanga in an exparte application, the arrest of Etete is key to unearthing the truth about the oil scam.

Granting the request, Justice Idris Kutigi ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest the former Minister and produce him before the court.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier accused Etete and two others of playing roles in the alleged fraudulent allocation of the lucrative Oil Processing Licence 245 to Malabu Oil and Gas Limited in 1998.

The anti-graft agency named Etete, Seidougha, and Amaran as being on the run in the 42 counts of the alleged fraudulent Malabu Oil transactions recently filed against Adoke and six others.
