Mali: Buhari, ECOWAS Leaders Hold Another Summit In Search Of Peace

Another meeting of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government on the political crisis in Mali, has begun.

The virtual meeting is the second since a military coup sacked the country’s democratic government days ago.

President Muhammadu Buhari is participating in the summit from the State House, Abuja.

On ground at the State House with Buhari are his Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; and Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada.

Other participants are the National Security Adviser Maj.-Gen Babagana Monguno (rted.); and the Director-General National Intelligence Agency, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai.

ECOWAS’ Chairman and President of Niger Republic, Mahmadou Issoufu, is coordinating the meeting that is expected to review the latest report of its Special Envoy to Mali and former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan.
