“President IBK is free in his movements, he’s at home,” he said.

Recall that the President, Prime Minister Boubou Cisse, among others, were on August 18, detained by the soldiers, who had carried out a military coup.

AFP reports that the junta, which calls itself the National Committee for the Salvation of the People (CNSP), said on Facebook it was “informing public and international opinion that former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been released and is currently in his residence”.

Keita’s relative also told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity, that the former leader had returned.
