Man, 35, Rapes 5-Year-Old In Enugu, Blames Alcohol

One Chukwuebuka Udeh of Afah, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Tuesday, said intoxication from alcohol caused him to defile a five-year-old girl. He disclosed this when he was paraded, alongside other criminal suspects, by the commissioner of police, Enugu State, CP Mohammed Aliyu.

Chukwuebuka told THE WHISTLER that, “Alcohol caused it. I returned from work, and was carried away by alcohol. I didn’t enter her. But alcohol caused it.”

According to the police report, “The suspect involved in this case is Chukwuebuka Udeh (m) aged 30, of Obinagu Village, Udi L.G.A. of the state. On 08/02/2021, at about 1000hrs, operatives attached to Ezinze Police Division arrested the above-named suspect for allegedly defiling a-five year old girl (names withheld). The little girl was rescued and rushed to the hospital, where medical examination and report show that the suspect had carnal knowledge of her. The suspect confessed to the crime and will be charged to court for the alleged offence.”

The duo of Kenechukwu Longinus (a.k.a Hausa), “m”, aged 32, of Neke-Agu village in Isi-Uzo L.G.A. of Enugu State, and Kosisochukwu Orjielo (a.k.a Bomba), “m”, aged 25, of Eke village in Udi L.G.A, both of Enugu State, were also paraded over alleged car theft.

The police report read, “On 04/02/2021, at about 1730hrs, Kenechukwu Longinus (a.k.a. Hausa) was intercepted and arrested by operatives attached to Abakpa Police Division while on stop-and-search duty. His arrest is a result of the operatives suspecting the unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Camry 2.4 model car he was driving to have been stolen. He made confessional statements that led to the arrest of the second suspect and leader of the gang, Kosisochukwu Orjielo (a.k.a Bomba), on the same date at about 2130hrs. Discreet investigation is ongoing to arrest and bring other fleeing members of the gang to book.”

Items recovered from them include one ash-coloured Toyota Camry 2.4 model car, two number plates of the car with registration number UWN 954 MP found hidden in the car boot., one Bajaj tricycle (Keke Napep) yellow in colour with number ENU 030 WW (used by the gang for the operation), one live cartridge, one machete, and two Android phones of Nokia and Huawei brands.”

CP Aliyu said the arrests followed frantic efforts of the operatives in checkmating crimes in the state. In his words, “You can see that the frantic efforts we are making in synergy with relevant security stakeholders and support from the state government to rid the state of acts of crimes and criminality are yielding positive results. I assure you that we are not going to rest on our oars to flush out criminal elements in the state.”
