Man Dies After Seeing Shop Razed In Market Fire

Numerous shops as well as goods worth millions of naira were burnt by fire on Saturday, at the Mbuka Obosi Market of Idemili local government area of Anambra state.

The deputy governor of the state, Nkem Okeke disclosed that the fire which started at the early hours of the day razed down over twenty shops.

Anambra broadcasting service reports that one Godwin Edozieuno, whose shop was burnt down last year during the festive period, rushed to the scene; but when he noticed that his shop was among those affected by the inferno, fainted and died out of shock.

The cause of the fire incident is still unknown.

Okeke condoled with the victims, adding that government would assist them to start life over again.

Eye witnesses said that the guards should have acted promptly to reduce the extent of damage in the market.
