Mbappe Wins Ligue 1 Golden Boot

PSG forward and French international, Kylian Mbappe, has been awarded the French Ligue 1 Golden boot for scoring the most goals after the Ligue was cancelled due to the Coronaviirus pandemic.

The Ligue de Football Professionel (LFP) was reported to have crowned the prolific 21-year-old the top goal scorer on Thursday

He was tied with Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder on eighteen goals before the league was cancelled but was awarded the tittle because he scored most of his goals in open play while three of the eighteen goals scored by Ben Yedder were penalties.

Mbape also have a superior goals per-game ratio, scoring 18 in 20 games while his rival played in 26 games before scoring his 18 goals.

Mbape has won the golden boot back to back as he also won the award last season, scoring 33 goals in 29 games played.

PSG were crowned French champion after the Ligue 1 was cancelled due to the French government’s ban on all sports until September.
