The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) organized the workers for protests in Lagos and Abuja against what they described as the worsening human condition.

Among those who met with the Acting President are Mr. Tunde Aremu, deputy NLC president; Ayuba Wabba, NLC president; and Baba Gaigama, TUC president and representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Minister of Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu, Senator Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, were also at the Presidential Villa for the meeting.

President of the NLC, Wabba had prior to the march told the protesters that an upward review of workers’ minimum wage “is non-negotiable.”

“There is absence of good governance, with that absent, we are at the receiving end. So we march for good governance,” he said.

It will be recalled that earlier this week, a similar protest was staged in Lagos, Abuja and other major cities across the country.
