Metele Attack: Army Buries Slain Soldiers

Twenty six days after Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military base in Metele, Borno State, the Nigerian Army is burying the 23 soldiers it claimed died during the attack.

Recall that some international news agencies had reported that as many as 100 Nigerian soldiers died during the attack said have been carried out by a faction of the insurgent group known as the Islamic State West Province (ISWAP).

But the military had refuted the report, insisting that only 23 soldiers died during the attack against the 157 Task force batalion in Abadam Local Government in the North Eastern state.

The Army is burying the slain army personnel today, December 14, 2018, at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery Maiduguri.

The Sun reports that among dignitaries attending the burial rites are the Shehu of Borno and some top army officers and sister security personnel.
