Metuh’s Lawyer Alleges Threat To Life For Asking Jonathan To Testify In Court

Emeka Etiaba (SAN), a lawyer to Chief Olisa Metuh, has alleged threat to his life for asking the court to compel ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to testify in the ongoing trial of his client.

Recall that Metuh, a former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had sought Jonathan’s appearance in court to testify to his innocence in a N400 million money laundering trial.

Etiaba, on Monday, told the Abuja Federal High Court that both he and Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), the lead defence counsel,  have been getting life threatening messages since the issuance of subpoena against the former president.

“This subpoena is one that has generated quite a lot of controversy, not just to our client but to myself.

“The threat goes to the life of the first defendant, myself and Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu.

“This will not make us change our mind as to whether His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, will come and testify or not.

“But we shall only plead with this honourable court to allow the make another attempt on December 11, 2017 at serving him with the subpoena,” Etiaba said.
