Microsoft Unveils Its Fist All-in-One PC ‘Surface Studio’

Microsoft has unveiled its first all in one PC.

The $3,000 Surface Studio has a 28inch touchscreen and what the firm says is ‘the world’s thinnest screen’, which can be folded down to a 20-degree viewing angle – similar to slanted desks found in art studios – to give users more room to be creative, the technology giant said.

The new all in one PC has the processing and power components built into the base, and comes with a new ‘dial’ controller with haptic feedback that can be used alongside a mouse, keyboard, stylus or finger.

It was unveiled alongside a new ‘creators edition’ of Windows 10 which includes VR capabilities.

‘It’s not just a beautiful PC, it was made to make you more creative, Panos Panay, Corporate Vice President for Surface Computing said at a New York launch event.

It has a ‘zero gravity hinge’ that can be easily moved depending on whether the user is drawing, writing or using it horizontally like a drafting board.

‘This is a new way to create, a new way to produce, it’s absolutely a new way to work,’ said Panay.

‘You can pick any angle, any position you want,’ he added, demonstrating the hinge.

It will go on sale in time for Christmas and cost $3,000, although Microsoft warned there would be ‘limited quantities’ available.

Touted as having the ‘world’s thinnest LCD monitor ever built’ at 12.5mm, it has an aluminium enclosure and measures 28 inches across.
