Mikel Obi May Play In Brazil

Ex Super Eagle Midfielder, John Mikel Obi has reacted to rumours of his likely switch to the Brazilian side Botafogo, saying it was a possibility.

The 32-year-old midfielder who terminated his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, would however not make a categorical statement on his next move.

The free agent told AOIFootball.com that playing in Brazil was a possibility as anything could happen in football.

“Hahaha I don’t really know about this yet, but you know its football and it has a way of surprising us,” Mikel said.

The Brazilian Seria A side had offered the Nigerian an 18months contract that would see him pocket $2 million.

The club see him as a better alternative for them after transfer for ex Manchester city midfielder Yaya Toure failed in January.
