Military Releases 123 Detained Quranic Students

“We are so excited over the release of the 123 Quran memorisers detained by the Military for over 60 days, we appreciate God and who ever give us the support to see that these ulamas were release and reunite with their families in Yobe state”, Dahiru said.

The leader of the ‘Tijjaniya’ Islamic sect in Nigeria Sheik charged Nigerian soldiers to be cautious in their operations in order to avoid human rights violation and unnecessary molestation on innocent citizens

He alleged that his disciples were performing morning prayers at a mosque in Gaidam town of Yobe state when troop of soldiers pounced on them, handcuffed and flied them in an aero plane to an unknown destination where they were detained for 69 consecutive days ‘even though no any weapon or evidence of their links with the dreaded Boko Haram group was found’.

The cleric who claimed that his followers are always peaceful and law abiding while conducting their religious functions, explained that majority of those apprehended are qur’anic memorizers calling on the officers of the Nigeria Army to always carry out intensive investigations before making arrests to avoid injustice.

‎One of the victims Malam Muhammad Mai Rami while narrating his ordeals to newsmen accused the soldiers for separating them with their families for over two months in detention wrongfully and without communication.

He express his appreciation to sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi who stand with them throughout the period by given all the moral and any other support needed, he also thanks many other personalities that intervened into the matter to exonerate them and secure their release from the military authorities.
