Ministerial List: Twitter Reacts To ‘Snubbing’ Of Lagos Ex-Gov

The absence of former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, from the ministerial list President Muhammadu Buhari sent to the Senate on Tuesday is generating reactions on social media.

Ambode, who failed to secure a second term as Lagos governor, had been speculated among those expected to make Buhari’s second cabinet.

But the former governor’s name was conspicuously missing in the list of ministerial nominees the President sent to the Senate on Tuesday.

Ambode had lost the primary governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the incumbent Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the primary election of the party in the state.

The former governor lost his second term bid after falling out with the state’s party leadership ahead of the 2019 general elections.

But many expected that Ambode would be compensated with a ministerial slot in view of the fact that he made up with party leadership and actively campaigned for the incumbent.

There were media reports last month that some party leaders in the state still consider the former governor as an outlaw.

But reports quoted unnamed party leaders as advising President Buhari not to give him a ministerial appointment.

Some Nigerians have since taken to twitter to react to Buhari’s new ministerial list and what seemed a like snub on the former governor.
