My Mother Had Covid-19 Prior To Her Death – Zindzi Mandela’s Son

Son of Nelson Mandela’s Daughter(Zindzi) , Zondwa Mandela, has disclosed that his mother had tested positive for Covid-19 but he did not attribute her demise to it.

Zindzi Mandela(59) had passed on at a Johannesburg hospital on Monday.

Zondwa made the disclosure to SABC News.

“My mother did in fact test positive for Covid-19 on the day of her passing.

“Although, this doesn’t therefore mean that she died of Covid-19-related complications, but simply that she tested positive for it,” he said.

Meanwhile, he added that the family was expecting autopsy reports to reveal what led to her death.

“Simply by the virtue that there was a positive test, we are therefore obligated to function and work within the framework of the existing regulation related to such cases,” he added.

Local reports stated that Zindzi would be laid to rest on Friday.

Until her death, she was South Africa’s ambassador to Denmark.

The country’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, in a tribute, explained that Zindzi, like her father, played a great role in the country’s development.
