Mystery Man Electrocuted Trying To Pluck Mangoes In Enugu

An unidentified wheelbarrow operator, said to be a native of Ebonyi State, was this morning electrocuted at Enugu road, Nsukka, Enugu State.

 An eyewitness told THE WHISTLER that the deceased died on the mango tree when the iron he was using to pluck a mango fruit had contact with a power line.

The eyewitness who was on his way to Peace Park at the time of the incident around 6;30am, said it happened opposite the Zenith Bank on Enugu road.

The deceased was said to have struggled to free himself before giving up the ghost.

His corpse has been deposited at Bishop Shanahan Hospital mortuary, Nsukka, but no one in the area seem to know the identity of the deceased.

Chinonso, who claimed to be the owner of the mango tree, said when he was told that someone was plucking his mango fruit, he was furious and was ready to deal with the person.

“When I saw that he was electrocuted, I informed people to alert Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, to cut the power supply from that source to rescue the victim. But he had died by the time they cut power.”

Daniel Ndukwe, the police public relations officer, Enugu State Police Command, did not answer his calls when THE WHISTLER called for confirmation.
