N250m Donation To Orphanage Homes Won’t Be Diverted—Davido

Popular Nigerian pop star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Monday vowed to ensure that children in orphanages benefit from his N250m donation.

Davido said this after a fan stated that the money may not get to the children in the orphanages, due to corrupt practices of welfare officers.

A tweet @soibomari, said, “I told mum what Davido did and I’ve never seen her revolt so passionately against something. She said the money won’t get to the children because welfare officers steal all.

“I hate Nigeria. She said it’s so bad that nurses never want to leave welfare homes when they’re posted there.”

Reacting to the tweet on Monday, Davido said, “I will personally make sure this doesn’t occur! I put that on my life!”

Davido had on Wednesday 17 November 2021, asked his friends, colleagues, and fans to donate N1m each for him to clear his Rose Royce.

However, he noted that the purpose was to get N100m. But the singer received over N53m in cash transfers in less than one hour.

In less than 72 hours, the singer received over N200m as gifts from his friends.

The pop star added N50m of his personal money and gave back to society by donating N250m to orphanages across Nigeria.

A 5-man committee was set up by him to monitor the disbursement of the funds.

Taking to Twitter, he also shared a screenshot of his bank account on Monday, stating that he has added his N50m to the contributions.

He posted on his Twitter and Instagram page, “My N50m donation has been added #transparency. More details soon regarding the disbursement of funds.”
