The ex-governor was first arraigned in 2007 but his trial was stalled over the years following court cases instituted by him, challenging the charges leveled against him by the EFCC.

Kalu will be arraigned alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and his alleged accomplice Udeh Jones Udeogu.

The EFCC lawyer, Oluwa Leke Atolagbe‎, however, moved for an adjournment to enable the agency to effectively prepare‎ for the case.

His application was not opposed by‎ Kalu’s lawyer, Chief Awa Kalu (SAN), and that of the 2nd and 3rd defendants, Chief Solomon Akuma (SAN).
