N50m Defamation Suit: Blackface Apologises To 2baba

The legal battle between former members of now defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2baba and Augustine Ahmedu, otherwise known as Blackface, came to an end on Thursday after the latter apologised for accusing his former band mate of intellectual property theft.

The duo were said to have opted for an out-of-court settlement on Wednesday after Blackface’s apology.

2Baba and Blackface reportedly reached the agreement at the Ikeja high Court, Lagos after which the “Oyi” crooner dropped his N50m defamation suit filed against Blackface.

Blackface had accused 2baba of stealing ‘African Queen’ and ‘Let Somebody Love You’ from him without giving him due credit.

But the ‘Hard Life’ singer revoked all the allegations he previously made against 2Baba in the written apology which reportedly led to the out-of-court settlement.

“Having consulted with my Solicitors, I do hereby revoke all allegations of intellectual property theft and career sabotage previously made against Mr. Innocent Idibia and Mr. Efe Omorogbe.

“These statements were erroneously made under misapprehension as to their accuracy, due to prevailing circumstances at the time. I have been advised on the inaccuracy of my previous allegations and retract them entirely.

“I undertake to refrain from making any such subsequent statements against the persons of Mr. Innocent Idibia and Mr. Efe Omorogbe in future,” part of the letter read.
