N90bn Election Fund: Osinbajo Waives Own Immunity, Sues Timi Frank For ‘Malicious Falsehood’

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has offered to wave his constitutional immunity to allow for thorough investigation of an allegation of corruption levelled against him.

Osinbajo, in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, also said that he had instructed his legal team to file legal actions against a former chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress  (APC), Timi Frank, and one Katch Ononuju for making “defamatory and misleading assertions” against him.

Frank had accused the vice president of receiving N90 billion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to fund the 2019 presidential election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Osinbajo’s statement reads in full: “In the past few days, a spate of reckless and malicious falsehoods have been peddled in the media against me by a group of malicious individuals.

“The defamatory and misleading assertions invented by this clique have been making the social media rounds anonymously.

“I have today instructed the commencement of legal action against two individuals, one Timi Frank and another Katch Ononuju, who have put their names to these odious falsehoods.
