NAF Fighter Jets Destroy Boko Haram Camp In Sambisa Forest, Scores Killed

Scores of Boko Haram terrorists have been killed as well their tactical command centre at Yuwe in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State destroyed by troops of the Air Task Force, Operation Lafiya Dole, along with it’s subsidiary, Operation LONG REACH.

The operation was in continuation of mission to dislodge the terrorists from the North East.

According to a statement issued on Friday by Defence Headquarters, the operation was conducted after “series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions observed significant presence of BHTs in the settlement and also established that a prominent compound with solar panel-mounted rooftop and a large tree in the middle with a nearby flag-mounted sentry post was being used by the BHTs to coordinate their operations in the area.”

It said as a result of that intelligence, the “Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets dispatched by the ATF to take out the Command Centre took turns in attacking the location scoring accurate hits, leading to the destruction of the Centre and surrounding structures as well as the neutralization of several fighters.”

The statement conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, to the troops for their “dedication and professionalism.”
