NASS Invasion: Two Police Officers Shot By Shiites

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria while on a protest at the National Assembly have reportedly shot a police officer and a civil defence officer.

On Tuesday, member’s of Shiites broke into the premises of the national assembly to protest the continued detention of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim Elzakzaky.

During the course of the protest, it was learnt that the angry Shi’ite members overpowered the policemen at the gate, collected one of their guns and shot the two security operatives.

The two security personnel are currently receiving medical treatment at the clinic within the complex.

Tuesday’s incident is the second time in less than three months the Shiites are invading the legislative complex.

In April, a similar invasion occurred which caused the lawmakers in the green chambers to hurriedly adjourn plenary.
