NBA Conference: CJN Urges Nigerians To Uphold Rule Of Law

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, has urged Nigerians, especially legal practitioners, to uphold the rule of law.

He spoke on Wednesday at the opening of the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

The conference is tagged “Step Forward”.

“Continue to uphold with candour and humility the rule of law.

“It is our collective responsibility to show connectivity to the rule of law, ” the CNBC quoted him as saying.

Furthermore, he stressed that the Bar played a vital role in the destiny of any nation.

“The Bar is the light of the nation in development and integration,” he added.

Meanwhile, the President of the NBA, Paul Nsoro, SAN, further urged lawyers to avoid all forms of ethno-religious tendencies, adding that such acts could draw a nation backwards.

“We must not be divided on ethnic lines, on religious lines, class segmentation and must remember that all is for one and one for all,” Nsoro stated.

He maintained that the NBA had grown stronger than before.

“We must celebrate a united Nigerian Bar Association. “Having one is easy but keeping it alive and united for 60 years can be challenging,” he added.
