Recall that the NBA President, Olumide Akpata, had on September 13, assured legal practitioners that he would discuss with the AGF on the way forward regarding its rules.

“Let me assure our members that l am engaging closely with the HAGF on this issue and will provide further updates on our next steps in the coming days.

“Indeed, as part of the commitment of the current administration of the NBA towards the welfare and capacity building of members and the overall improvement of the Bar, we intend to propose certain amendments to the RPC that will be critical to the attainment of those objectives,” he had stated.

On his part, Ubani stressed that he is withdrawing the case because he does not want to spoil the discussions going on regarding the issue.

“The leadership of the Bar at the highest level have reached out to me to have the lawsuit withdrawn to avoid an ugly situation where the issue of the case in court will be used as an excuse to scuttle the much anticipated resolution of this unnecessary rumble within our revered body.

“As an unrepentant lover of the Bar and a principled individual who fights for a cause with God’s wisdom, I have reached out to my colleagues in this struggle for us to have this case withdrawn to allow no reason whatsoever to be given for the failure to arrive at an amicable settlement over the matter,” he stated as quoted by The Punch on Wednesday.
