NBS Denies It Is Recruiting

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said that it has no plans to recruit new employees into its service now and in the near future, especially during this period of economic hardship caused by the COVID-19.

NBS disclosed this in a statement as a disclaimer to a job advert published by ‘currentschoolnews.com’ claiming to have emanated from the bureau.

According to NBS, ” The Bureau wishes to state that, it is not contemplating recruitment into its service for now and in the nearest future, especially in the face of the recent Federal Government directive to embargo all recruitments into the Federal Public Service as a measure to mitigate the possible economic impact of Coronavirus pandemic on the Nigerian economy.”

The body said the advert was an attempt to defraud unsuspecting unemployed Nigerians seeking for means of livelihood.

NBS further warned members of the public to disregard the recruitment advertisement so as not to be victimised.

“The Bureau also wishes to inform the general public that it is at the top of the situation as it has put mechanism in place to track the fraudsters and bring them to book.
