The National Bureau of Statistics has said that all the data that will be collected from Nigerians during the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MIC6/NICS ) to be held in four states will not be divulged to any third party.

The bureau said this on Tuesday to ensure seamless flow of the MIC6/NICS which it said would focus on women and children across the country.

But for a start, selected trainers would be sent to four states of Anambra, Kano, Plateau and Oyo  to conduct the pre-test exercise.

Prior to the deployment of the trainees, the process of data collection on MICS 6/NICS 2021 will begin with the Training of Trainers workshop in Lagos on the 9th of June 2021, said NBS.

The NBS stated, “It (MIC6/NICS) is the largest source of statistically sound and internationally comparable data on women and children worldwide, focusing on issues such as; health, education, child protection, water and sanitation, amongst others.

“The survey also serves as a major source of data in measuring achievements of some of the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other international commitments.

“A total of five rounds have been conducted with technical support of the  United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) since 1995, but NBS fears that issues around trust may affect the exercise.

“NBS wishes to assure all our respondents that any information given out during this survey exercise shall not be divulged to a third party and will be used as anonymized data for statistical purposes only.”

NBS added, “We appeal to the general public for their maximum cooperation towards the successful completion of the project.”
