NDDC Probe: SERAP Urges NASS To Name Members Who Benefitted From Contract Largesse

The Socio-economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the President of the Senate, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, to name lawmakers getting contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission(NCDC) as alleged by former Governor Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio had on Monday, during grilling by a committee of the House of Reps, accused members of the National Assembly of getting most of NDDC’s contract.

On its part, SERAP urged Ahmad Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila, not to brush aside the accusations but to refer it to antigraft agencies for thorough investigation.

“We urge @DrAhmadLawan and @femigbaja to refer to @officialEFCC and @ICPC_PE allegations by Godswill Akpabio, Niger Delta affairs minister that most of the contracts in @NDDCOnline are given to members of @nassnigeria

“We’ll fight for justice and accountability in this matter,” SERAP tweeted on Monday.

The NDDC management had been invited to explain how monies were spent in the agency, despite the problems bedvelling people of the region.
