NEMA Responds To High Tension Cable Collapse In Lagos Communities

In order to prevent possible fire outbreak as a result of the collapse of the high tension cable around Igando and Idinu axis of Lagos State, the National Emergency Management Agency has deployed fire fighters to the scene.

The Coordinator of NEMA in South-West, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, said this in a chat with THE WHISTLER on Friday.

He said, “Residents of Igando, Idimu Axis have been strongly advised to take serious safety precautions due to the collapse of high tension poles that emanated from Eghin Hydro Power Station.

“The lines came in from Ikorodu across Ikeja and other areas and officials of the Fire Service have been mobilised in case of fire outbreak.

“Power service agencies especially Ikeja Electric Distribution Company and others are trying to isolate the 330 Line for safety reasons.”

The NEMA boss said the cables which fell across the road also fell on some shanties under the pylons in the densely populated area.

He said, ” There is no injury and no loss of life now. Our men are there to ensure that there no loss of lives.”
