NEPZA Threatens Legal Action Over Fake Online Job Adverts

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority wants to sue online career website, www.careersafrika.com and its affiliates over a fake job advertorial involving the agency.

The agency on Thursday alleged that the career website had advertised a “purported 2021 NEPZA recruitment exercise” to defraud job seeking Nigerians.

“This advertorial is, therefore, a calculated falsehood tailored along strategies usually deployed by Yahoo Yahoo guys or internet fraudsters to devour earnings of unsuspecting victims,” Adesoji Adesugba, Managing Director of the Authority said.

THE WHISTLER can report that as at the time of filing the report, the job advert was still on the platform.

The job was filed by the website on January 1, according to findings by THE WHISTLER.

“We will provide you vital information on NEPZA recruitment 2021. The Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority recruitment for 2021 is currently ongoing,” the advert reads.

Adesugba said, “We are, therefore, resolute in carrying out our statutory mandate and this includes a possible legal action against managers of the aforementioned portal and its affiliates if the fake NEPZA recruitment advertorial is not brought down immediately.

“We shall proceed and take necessary steps to work with the security agencies to hunt and prosecute the scoundrels who are using the name of the Authority to commit such heinous crimes as to defraud Nigerians rightfully wishing to serve their fatherland.”

The NEPZA boss while disowning the advert said the agency respects standards and due process as it works tirelessly to actualize the Federal Government’s vision of industrialising the nation using a free trade zone scheme.
