In the wake of Sunday Oliseh’s resignation, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Samson Siasia to take over the Super Eagles on interim basis.

The ex-international, who led the U-23 Eagles to win the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal, will work with new Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke, Salisu Yusuf and Alloy Agu, who will serve as his assistants for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt next month.

This decision was resolved after the NFF Technical and Development Committee held an emergency meeting on Friday, following Sunday Oliseh’s resignation.

Siasia confirmed to Goal earlier today on his readiness to take the Super Eagles job, if approached by the NFF.

“I cannot confirm anything now but if they give me the job. I’m ready to serve my country in any capacity,” Siasia said.

“They are discussing, but when they (technical committee) finish their meeting, everyone will know what next,” he added.

Siasia served as Super Eagles’ Head Coach between December 2010 and October 2011, but his reign was short-lived after he failed to qualify the team to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
