The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) says it received 118 complaints of alleged human rights violations in Kano State in June.
The State Coordinator of the commission, Shehu Abdullahi, disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Tuesday in Kano.
According to him, 75 of the complaints involved child abandonment and violations of children’s rights, while 23 cases related to domestic violence and the right to life.

He added that the remaining 20 complaints were linked to economic and cultural rights, alleged abuses by law enforcement agencies and neglect of parental responsibilities.
Abdullahi said the commission had resolved 82 of the reported cases, while 36 remained under investigation or were still pending.
He also disclosed that the commission mediated in several marital disputes during the period.

The NHRC coordinator urged couples to exercise patience and tolerance in handling family responsibilities to reduce domestic conflicts.
He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to working closely with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to promote and protect human rights across Kano State.
