Niger State Govt. Demolishes Kidnappers’ Hideout In Minna

The Niger State government has demolished a suspected hideout of kidnappers in Nyikangbe, a suburb of Minna, the state capital. 

The Chief Press Secretary to the state’s governor, Mary Noel Berje, made this known in a press release issued in Minna on Saturday.

According to her, one of the flats was said to have been occupied by the suspect and his family members while the other flat was yet to be completed.

This comes amid the rising cases of kidnapping in the state.

THE WHISTLER had reported how armed bandits kidnapped four women at Agwan Gwari Kwamba in Suleja area of Niger state.

In recent times, Niger State had seen a spike in kidnap cases amid the challenges of banditry and terrorism already bedevilling the state.

An analysis of reported abductions between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2021 in the country showed that 12.3 percent of the cases were from Niger State.

On Wednesday, the state governor, Abubakar Sani Bello said senseless killings have continued unabated because there haven’t been appropriate punitive sanctions on those found culpable.

“We must be able to do the right thing. Those taking laws into their hands must be seen to face justice to prevent others from executing similar senseless acts and ensure that it does not occur again in future”, he had said.
