Nigeria Confirms 290 New COVID-19 Cases

Nigeria has recorded 290 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 46,867.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed the updated figure in a tweet on Monday night.

Of the new cases reported, Lagos and plateau has the highest number of infections – 82, followed by Oyo and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which reported 19 and 18 cases respectively.


Others are Edo-16,Kaduna-15 Enugu-9, Ogun-9,Kano-8,Kwara-8,Cross River-5,Ondo-5,Rivers-5,Ekiti-4,Imo-3
and Borno-2.

The number of those successfully treated and discharged from various treatment centres also rose to 33,346, representing an increase of 160 persons.


While more people have recovered from the disease, the country reported five new fatalities, raising the number of those who have lost the battle to the virus to 950.

The NCDC has maintained that observing physical distance reduces the risk of contact with droplets when an infected person sneezes or coughs.
