Nigerian Soldiers Attack THE WHISTLER, BBC Reporters In Abuja

Richard Anyebe, a reporter with THE WHISTLER, and a BBC reporter, Yusuf Tijani, have been attacked by Nigerian soldiers while on election duties at the Nyanya Gbagyi 005 Polling Unit, Karu Local Government, Nasarawa Local Government.

Both reporters were attacked, and our correspondent’s mobile phone was destroyed by the soldiers for taking pictures of happenings around the Nyanya Gbagyi Polling Unit.

The reporters had gone to cover the ongoing presidential and National Assembly elections in that polling unit.

The soldiers, who arrived the polling station in a van with the number “177/48”, descended on the journalists who were going about their obligation peacefully.

Our correspondent was wearing his accreditation tag by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when the soldiers descended on him and the BBC reporter.
