Nigerians Blast Businessman For Claiming He’s Pro-#EndSARS After Suing Twitter CEO

A Nigerian businessman, Adamu Garba, who had accused Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, of allegedly sponsoring violence by supporting #EndSARS protests in the country, has come under heavy criticism after he claimed on Sunday that he supported the protests.

Recall that Garba had on October 20, sued Dorsey at a Federal High Court, Abuja, on the grounds that he allegedly played a role in the violence that trailed the EndSARS protests.

But on Sunday, he claimed that while he supported the EndSARS protests, the only thing he did not like about it was the violent turnout associated with it, which according to him, was sponsored by some persons.

” I am not against #EndSARS, quite the opposite, I am 100% Pro #EndSARS.

“But hear this: I am and will always remain against anyone who seek the destruction of our country, both local and foreign actors. This is my forever stand.

“If you like interpret as you wish,” he tweeted on Sunday.

Twitter CEO, Dorsey, had lent his voice to the protests by using the #EndSARS hashtags to solicit for financial donations to promoters of the movement, which is a campaign against police brutality.

The hashtag became widespread on social media platforms and drew reactions locally and globally.

Subsequently, the federal government disbanded a unit of the Police Force known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) linked to the rights abuses and later directed that a panel of inquiry be established to probe cases of police brutality in each state.

But Garba’s tweet caused his followers to react, as many accused him of backtracking on his earlier stand against the protests and its supporters.
