Nigerians Pounce On Abike Dabiri Over Reaction To Sen. Abbo’s Assault Video

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, has come under attack on Twitter over her reaction to a trending video where a Nigerian Senator, Elisha Abbo, was seen assaulting some woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja.

The video which surfaced online on Tuesday, portrays Senator Abbo as assaulting the sex toy shop owner and her friend who is said to be a nursing mother.

The lawmaker was said to have visited the shop with three women and his security detail when a heated argument broke out after one of his girls vomited multiple times inside the shop and messed up the place. The shop owner was said to have complained about the vomiting which allegedly prompted the argument and the consequent alleged assault.

Reacting to the assault video which has since gone viral on social media, Dabiri-Erewa, who doubles as President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora, had attempted to politicize Abbo’s conduct instead of criticize the act in itself, prompting Nigerians to pounce on her.

She had said, “To think that this PDP guy. was said to have “defeated” one of our most respected female parliamentarians, Senator Binta Masi Garba. The Senate must not protect him. He should be charged. The footage is enough evidence. He deserves to be in Prison”

But reacting, some twitter users criticized the NIDCOM Chairman for being quick to criticize Abbo because he is a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but maintained silence when a governor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, was caught on several tapes allegedly receiving kickbacks in dollars from contractors in the state.

Below are some of the reactions:
