Nigerians Question WSJ Report On Secret Burial Of 1000 Soldiers

Reactions have trailed a report published by the Wall Street Journal, alleging that over a thousand Nigerian soldiers have been secretly buried at night by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration.

The report claimed the army concealed “toll in unmarked graves” while claiming that the war against Islamist insurgency is won.

“The bodies are laid by flashlight into trenches dug by infantrymen or local villagers paid a few dollars per shift,” the report had claimed.

The report which was published today, had sparked diverse reaction on the social media.

One of the first to react to the report was the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku, who took to twitter to voice his concern over the report, requested that a Judicial Commission of Inquiry headed by a non-partisan and reputable jurist, be inaugurated to investigate the findings of the Wall Street Journal.

I lost an in-law,had a brother and cousin in the thick of the war,we were properly briefed of the death of the soldier.
Since this report emanated from wall street journal it is certainly not credible.

Do you know what 1000 soldiers mean? You can say over the years a 1000 soldiers have been buried. But to claim 1000 was buried at night, mehn pause and reflect.

It baffles me that a lot of you guys can’t even wear your thinking cap when you mostly need one .Ask any soldier what’s the strength of the Nigerian Army then deduct 1000 out of it and let’s know what’s left .That someone quotes a source,does it add any credibility to a story ?
