Nigerians React As Gorilla ‘Swallows’ N6.8m In Kano Zoo

Twitter is currently agog over reports that a gorilla swallowed N6.8 million at the Kano Zoological Gardens in Kano State.

This comes after a finance officer at the Kano zoo reportedly claimed that the gorilla swallowed the said sum after it went missing under their watch.

The money in question was said to be part of the revenue generated from tourists who visited the zoo during the recent Eid al-Fitr festivity.

“The issue is under investigations for now and I don’t want to say anything on the matter, many journalists have come to meet me but I don’t want to talk anything. What I can confirm is that money is missing,” he told the BBC Pidgin.

BBC reported that 10 persons, including those on duty when the money went missing, have been arrested.

“Yes, it is true that money from five days of Sallah festivities is missing from the Kano zoo,” Abdullahi Haruna, police spokesman in Kano told BBC pidgin adding: “As at now, we have arrested 10 members of staff of the zoo including the security man and those working in the finance unit.

THE WHISTLER recalls that a similar claim was made by an official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Benue state, Philomina Chieshe, who claimed in 2018 that a mysterious snake swallowed a whooping N36 million generated from the sales of exam scratch cards at the state branch of the board.
