NITDA Empowers Women In The North With Digital Skills

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has started a digital empowerment programme for women in north central states of Nigeria.

Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, during the opening ceremony of capacity building programme of Women in ICT at Isa Mustapha Polytechnic, Lafia in Nasarawa state on Wednesday, said families will become stronger and children will have better access to quality healthcare and education when women are empowered.

In a series of tweets on its handle, the DG said the training is designed to empower 100 women from north central states, which the agency expects the women in turn to train at least three other women each, making it 300.

He said “If you educate women, you educate the entire nation. That is why we organised this capacity building programme particularly for women to benefit in our drive to achieve the federal government’s goals of digital economy.

“I congratulate all the participants who are lucky to be part of this laudable project, being selected out of million Nigerians tells you enough. So I urge you to use the skills wisely and make an impact to our society.”

The NITDA boss had during an earlier visit to the Nasarawa State Governor, Sule Audu noted that it was to strengthen the partnership with the state government.

Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of laptop to one of the participants and beneficiaries of NITDA’s ICT empowerment training and provision of tools for women.
