NLC Urges Buhari To Fulfill Job Creation Promise

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Friday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his campaign promise on job creation and youth employment in the country.

This was contained in a statement signed by the NLC General Secretary, Peter Ozo-Eson, while commemorating the 2016 International Youth Day in Abuja.

Ozo-Eson who said it was imperative for the Federal Government to fulfil its promise to the youths, added that it had become particularly significant because the 2016 celebration was focused on the leading role of young people and ensuring poverty eradication and achieving sustainable development.

He said, “The congress is committed to the issues of youth empowerment because only then can we guarantee the future of our nation and the sustainability of the labour movement.

“This is also in line with the United Nations 2016 theme which is ‘The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production’.

“It is in realisation of the role of the youths in the trade unions and indeed the society at large that the congress has adopted a Youth Policy as part of the activities to mark this year’s International Youth Day,’’ he said.
